Toon Tone is a free browser-based color memory game that tests how well you remember the iconic colors of your favorite cartoon characters. You'll be shown a character and asked to recreate a specific color from memory using Hue, Saturation, and Brightness sliders. It's a fun challenge for artists, designers, and anyone who loves cartoons.

Choose Difficulty

Easy has no time limit, Medium gives you 15 seconds, Hard only 5 seconds per round.

Use the Hue strip and Saturation/Brightness controls to match the character's color from memory.

Score Points

The closer your guess, the higher your score. Each round is scored 0-10 based on color accuracy.

Understanding HSB Colors

HSB stands for Hue, Saturation, and Brightness — a color model that matches how humans naturally think about color.

Hue (0°-360°) — The position on the color wheel. Red is 0°, green is 120°, blue is 240°.
Saturation (0%-100%) — How vivid the color is. 0% is gray, 100% is pure color.
Brightness (0%-100%) — How light or dark. 0% is black, 100% is the brightest version.

Scoring System

Your score is calculated based on how close your HSB values are to the target color:

  • 50% Hue accuracy — getting the right color family is the most important factor
  • 25% Saturation accuracy — how vivid or muted you make the color
  • 25% Brightness accuracy — how light or dark you set the color

Near-perfect guesses are rewarded exponentially — precision matters more than getting "close enough." Use the hint button if you're stuck, but it costs 1 point from that round's score.

Tips for Better Scores

  • Focus on getting the hue right first — it's worth 50% of your score
  • Cartoon colors are usually highly saturated (65-85%)
  • Most character colors fall in the 40-80% brightness range
  • Use hints strategically on colors you're less confident about
  • Practice regularly to train your color memory and perception
