How to Play the Match the Color Game
Every level is a small color puzzle: study the target shade, mix your paint, and see how close you can get. New to color mixing? Read the color mixing guide for primary colors, ratios and drop recipes for pink, brown, teal, navy and more.
Look at the target
Each level shows an object painted in a mystery color. That is the shade you need to match.
Mix your paint
Tap Cherry Red, Sun Yellow, Ocean Blue, Snow White or Ink Black (keys 1-5) to add drops. Yellow and blue make green, white makes it lighter, black makes it darker. Use Undo or Clear to fix the recipe.
Check the match
Press Check match to see your accuracy. Hit 90% or more to clear the level and earn up to 3 stars. There is no timer, and later levels use more paints.
Color Mixing Tips to Match the Color
- Find the color family first: red + yellow makes orange, yellow + blue makes green, red + blue makes purple.
- Ratios matter more than totals: 2 yellow + 1 blue is the same green as 4 yellow + 2 blue.
- Pastel target? Add Snow White last, one drop at a time.
- Ink Black is strong. Use a single drop to deepen browns, olives and navy tones.
- Stuck below 90%? Use a hint to see which paints the target uses, then experiment with the amounts.

Color Match Game FAQ
What is a color match game?
A color match game asks you to recreate a target color as closely as possible. In Toon Tone Color Match you match the color by mixing drops of paint, then the game scores how close your mix is to the original shade.
How do I play the match the color game?
Look at the object, tap paints to add drops to your mix, and press Check match. If your accuracy is below 90%, keep adjusting the recipe with more drops, Undo or Clear. At 90% or higher you clear the level and move on.
How is accuracy calculated?
Your mix and the target are compared in a perceptual color space, so the percentage reflects how different the two colors look to the human eye. 90% clears a level, 95% earns 2 stars and 98% or more earns 3 stars.
Is there a time limit?
No. Take as long as you need and check your match as many times as you like. Levels get harder as you go: later colors use three or four paints and need more precise ratios.
Is the Color Match game free? Do I need an app?
Yes, it is completely free and runs in your browser on desktop, tablet and phone. There is no app to install and no account needed; your level and stars are saved on your device.
How is this different from the Toon Tone color guessing game?
The original Toon Tone game is a color guessing game: you recall a cartoon character color from memory and rebuild it with HSB sliders. Color Match keeps the target on screen and tests your color mixing instead, so the two games train different color skills.
Is Color Match a daily puzzle like Termo or Krillion?
Not quite. Termo is a word game and Krillion is a trivia game, while Color Match is a color puzzle with unlimited levels. If you enjoy short browser puzzles like those, a quick round of match the color makes a nice break.
